  • Step 6: Acceptance & Enrollment

Step 1: Review School Documents

A crucial step in our process is for families to thoroughly understand our foundational documents. They will give you a sense of what we believe and what we focus on as a school. It is imperative that there is agreement between the school and the family in the most important things for us to truly be partners in this type of education.

Coram Deo Academy is a non-denominational school focused on the discipleship of children. Our approach is Protestant, with a high value placed on the Bible. We believe that to achieve the learning environment structured around the truths of Scripture, it is imperative that children admitted be from believing families. In short, the goal of Coram Deo Academy’s admission process is to admit families that share our Christian values, our Christian worldview, and the goals of the school. We also want to ensure that what we teach supports the mission of each family that is enrolled.

Once you read through the following documents and believe CDA is a good match for your family, you can move to the online application in the next section.

Step 2: Student Application

February 3 - March 21

After reading through our foundational documents, the next step in the process is to complete the online application linked below. We will be open for receiving applications from February 3 - March 21.

Begin Application

Feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions about the information we are requesting.

Step 3: School Visit

February 3 - March 21

As part of the application process each family needs to schedule a school visit. This is a great way to see firsthand the culture of our school our staff and students. School visits must be completed before March 21 for an application to be considered complete. Once your application is submitted we will contact you with available dates and times.

Step 4: Student Assessment

February 3 - March 21

As part of the application process each student will be given a readiness assessment. These are basic screeners focused on math, reading, writing, and grammar tailored for each age. At the same time, overall behavior, attitude, and responsiveness to direction will be included as part of the assessment.

The student assessment will take place at the same time as the school visit.

Step 5: Family Interview

March 21 - April 12

Near the end of the application window closing we will conduct family interviews with those whose applications are in line with our vision, mission, and values. At this step you will receive an email with either an invitation to set up a family interview, or a notice that your application is not moving forward.

During the family interview we will review the basic concepts of classical Christian education, give an overview of the school, and discuss any relevant information that is needed to make an informed decision about admission. We will also talk about the academic and behavioral level of each student.

Step 6: Acceptance & Enrollment

April 22

Families will be notified about the final status of their application no later than April 22 (we will try for the beginning of April). The process of determining acceptance is a difficult one, and we try to make our decisions as thoughtfully as possible. Here are some things that we take into account when praying about and discussing applications.

1.     Agreement with our statement of faith and statement on sexual ethics.

2.     The Christian testimony of the parents (or child, depending on age).

3.     A clear commitment and devotion to a local church.

4.     An understanding and support of the classical Christian approach to education.

5.     A student’s behavior, attitude, response to direction, and assessments.

6.     A commitment to the vision, mission, values, and worldview, of CDA.

These factors, taken together, all contribute to the consideration of admission.

Reminder:

Admission is not on a first-come, first-served basis.  Admission will be based on how well we can serve the family, and how well the family matches our stated goals and standards.

Partnering with Coram Deo Academy is a privilege.  Enrollment is at the sole discretion of the Board of Directors and school administration.  We reserve the right to refuse admission or continued enrollment to anyone.

 NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY

Coram Deo Academy admits students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities available to students at the school, and does not discriminate on the basis of race in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, and athletic or other school-administered programs.
